Hear from some of our existing Civil Apprentices:
Rodger Larkin, Water Treatment Team Lead – Offaly
“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to take part in the Level 7 Civil Engineering apprenticeship with Uisce Eireann at MTU Cork. Civil engineering is a path I had always considered, but I felt it might have been too late for me, so when this opportunity came up, I was eager to take it. Throughout my first year, the support I received has been incredible. My mentor, James Joyce, and our apprenticeship coordinator, Niall Murphy, have both been extremely supportive and encouraging every step of the way. It has also been a great experience sharing the journey with Shane O’Brien and Brendan Gavigan, having others to lean on has made a big difference. While the apprenticeship requires hard work and commitment, it has been very rewarding so far. I would highly encourage anyone considering it to go for it, as my experience has been very positive.”
Shane O'Brien, Water Network Senior Operator (North Wexford)
“The first year of the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship has been a very rewarding experience. The opportunity to study while working with Uisce Eireann, gives a great mix of theory-based learning alongside practical on-site experience. The support from Uisce Eireann both in the wider company and in my direct team throughout the first year has been great and has allowed me to succeed.”
