Crews responding to major burst in the Glenties

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a complex burst on a trunk water main supplied from the Glenties Water Treatment Plant which occurred in the early hours of this morning. Repair crews were immediately mobilised and works on the burst are underway. The burst is impacting supply to homes and businesses in Na Gleannta and Baile na Finne and surrounding areas. 

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Manager Damien O’Sullivan said: “Every effort is being made to restore a full and reliable water supply as quickly as possible. We understand the inconvenience that an unplanned outage can cause, and we thank impacted customers for their understanding and patience while our crews work to repair the burst and restore normal water supply.”

It is expected that repairs will be completed by approximately 2pm today. Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network as the network recharges, particularly in the Baile na Finne area.
