South Donegal water outage: Crews working to restore supply

Those who live or work in the Ballinatra, Rossnowlagh, and Cashelard areas of South Donegal may be experiencing a water supply disruption this morning. This is due to a mechanical issue at Ballymagroarty Water Treatment Plant which supplies water to these areas.

Uisce Éireann crews have now resolved the issue at the plant and water production has resumed. However, reservoir levels have been significantly depleted as a result, meaning it will take some time for the network to fully recover and supplies to return to normal across the affected areas.

Providing an update, Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said:  “The team knows how disruptive an unexpected water outage can be. Our crews have been working since early this morning to resolve the issue at the treatment plant and restore water to the community as quickly as possible. We hope to have a normal supply restored by lunchtime today. Those living at the end of the network or in higher areas may experience a longer wait for their water supply to fully return."
