Uisce Éireann thanks community as Tallow Boil Water Notice is lifted
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Families, businesses and all other customers in Tallow can once again enjoy safe drinking water straight from the tap following the lifting of the Boil Water Notice.
The team in Uisce Éireann, following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), can confirm that the water is now safe to drink, prepare food with, and use as normal.
The notice has been lifted following a series of satisfactory water quality tests. It was issued on 14 October after increased levels of turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water affected the treatment process at the local water treatment plant.
We understand the disruption and inconvenience the notice has caused for customers and would like to thank everyone in the community for their patience, cooperation and support while the necessary work was carried out.
Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann said: “This is welcome news for the community. We understand how disruptive a Boil Water Notice can be and I'd like to thank customers for the patience, cooperation and kindness they showed to our teams while this notice was in place. Our drinking water experts have worked hard to resolve the issue, and we are delighted that customers can now return to using their water supply as normal."
The Uisce Éireann Customer Contact Centre, available 24/7 on freephone 1800 278 278, can answer queries regarding the lifting of this notice. Further information is available on our website. Customers can also receive free text alerts about their local water services by registering their Eircode and mobile number on our website.
Previous Updates
Customers in Tallow, must boil their water before using it for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth until further notice. This is an essential measure introduced to protect public health after increased levels of turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water affected the treatment process at the local water treatment plant.
The Boil Water Notice applies to approximately 1,100 consumers supplied by Tallow Public Water Supply including customers in Tallow and Tallow Hill. A map of the affected area is below.
The Boil Water Notice will remain in place while Uisce Éireann works with the HSE to ensure the water is safe to drink.
We understand how frustrating and worrying it will be for people to face a Boil Water Notice. Our teams are working to restore normal water quality and have the notice lifted as quickly and safely as possible.
Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann, said: “We know how important a safe and reliable water supply is to everyday life, and we understand how difficult this latest disruption will be for households, businesses and the wider community.
