Water supply restored for homes and businesses in Carrick-on-Suir following successful repair of burst water main

Water supply has been restored to homes and businesses in Carrick-on-Suir following the successful repair of a burst water main earlier today.
However, as treated water levels remain low, nighttime restrictions will be in place from 7pm tonight until 8am tomorrow morning to support the full restoration of normal water supplies in Carrick-on-Suir.
Alternative water supplies are available at Green Hill Village, Green Hill Nursing Home and Sonas Nursing Home.
Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when collecting water from tankers and, as a precautionary measure, to boil this water before consumption.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said, “We are pleased to report that repairs have been completed, and the network is recharging, with normal water supply restored to customers in Carrick-on-Suir. To help safeguard supplies and allow reservoirs to continue recovering, nighttime restrictions will remain in place tonight. These temporary measures will help ensure the network remains stable and resilient.”

Customers and businesses in Carrick-on-Suir and surrounding areas may experience disruptions to their water supply following a burst water main.
The areas affected include:
- Ballygarret
- Carrickbeg
- Carrick-on-Suirand surrounding areas
Our crews have located the burst and will carry out the necessary works as quickly and safely as possible with repairs expected to be completed by midday tomorrow, Wednesday.
Alternative water supplies are available at Green Hill Village, Green Hill Nursing Home, Sonas Nursing Home until 1pm tomorrow, Wednesday. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann, said: "We understand how inconvenient an unexpected water outage can be. Our main priority is fixing this burst and returning a normal supply to all our customers. We really appreciate everyone in the community bearing with us while our crews get water back to homes and businesses."
Once repairs have been completed, water supplies will return gradually over the following hours. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills.
Supporting customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
