Celebrating completion of network upgrades in Tullow

Pupils from Tullow Community School, local elected representatives, the Chief Executive of Carlow County Council and Jim and Bernadette Murphy from Murphy’s Butchers in the town joined Uisce Éireann today to celebrate the completion of vital water network upgrades in Tullow Town Centre. More than 2.1km of old and damaged pipes have been replaced, marking a significant step towards our continued commitment to improving the water network for the local community.

This essential upgrade will reduce water loss, enhance pressure, and strengthen the resilience of the water network, ensuring a more reliable supply for homes and businesses in Tullow.

Speaking about the project, Ian Furlong, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “We are committed to delivering a secure and reliable water supply to communities across Ireland. The works in Tullow Town are part of that effort, ensuring fewer disruptions, improved water quality, and a network that’s fit for the future. We’re delighted the community could join us today to mark this milestone. We want to thank the people of Tullow for their patience and support throughout these essential works.”

Coilín O’Reilly, Chief Executive of Carlow County Council, added: “This investment in Tullow’s water infrastructure is a major boost for the town. Reliable water services are fundamental to community life, economic development and housing delivery, and these upgrades will deliver long-term benefits for residents and businesses. We welcome Uisce Éireann’s continued commitment to improving the water network across Carlow.”

The works were delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge.
