Water supply returning in Cashel

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann crews have restored water supply to customers in Cashel and the surrounding areas following an unplanned interruption at the Springmount Water Treatment Plant which caused Cashel Reservoir to become depleted earlier today.

Although normal production has resumed, it can take some time for normal water supply to return as the reservoir refills, especially for customers on high ground or at the end of the line. Customers are being asked to be mindful of their water usage and to allow supply to catch up with demand.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that the unplanned interruption to supply caused and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while crews worked to bring the water treatment plant back into full production.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Cashel following an unplanned interruption to the water supply locally that caused an outage at Springmount Water Treatment Plant overnight, which has resulted in Cashel Reservoir to become depleted.

The outage is causing an interruption to supply for homes and businesses in Golden Village, Galtee View Estate, Mantle Hill, Spital Land, Cloghleigh, Boytonrath, Dangandargan, Golden Road, Caiseal na Ri, Cluain Orga as well as  Spafield, The Steeples, Palmers Hill, Bohereengloss and the surrounding areas.

Crews have been on site since early this morning and are working to restore normal water supply. It is expected that supply will return from 4pm today. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges as the reservoir and network have been depleted it will take some time to refill over the course of the day.

Uisce Éireann's Pierce Faherty regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible. We are also asking customers to be mindful of their water usage and to allow supply to catch up with demand.”
