Efforts to restore water supply to customers in Ballysadare ongoing

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing efforts to return water supply to homes and businesses in Ballysadare today following a second burst to a water main on Main Street in the town.

Crews reconfigured the network to minimise disruption and isolated a leak near The Grotto on the Ballina Road which had been causing supply disruptions to customers yesterday. However, a second burst to a water main on Main Street in the town has occurred this morning which is causing supply disruptions for additional customers in Ballysadare.

In order to prioritise the safety of crews, road users, and the general public while traffic volumes are high during the day, repairs works will get underway this evening when a traffic management plan will be in place at the busy location near the roundabout at Main Street, the Sligo Road and Union Road.

To support impacted customers, an alternative water supply remains in place at The Grotto, Ballysadare. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from bowsers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Kevin Love, Uisce Éireann, said: “We understand the inconvenience this is causing, and our teams are working to restore the water supply as quickly possible. Ballysadare Main Street is very busy with traffic and pedestrians during peak hours which is why our repair works will take place this evening to minimise disruption as much as possible. Once normal operations are restored, it will take three to four hours for the network to refill and normal supply to return to all customers.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
