Critical water main upgrades are progressing across Westmeath

Uisce Éireann is making steady progress to upgrade the water network across Westmeath.

To facilitate the connection of the newly installed water mains, there will a planned outage which may impact customers in Knockdrin, Rathconnell, Crookedwood, Cloghan and the surrounding areas on Wednesday, 22 October from 8am to 5pm.

These works will reduce leakage and provide a more reliable water supply to local homes and businesses. Works are at an advanced stage and are expected to be completed shortly.

Separately customers in Bunbrosna, Ballinalack, Rathowen, Street, Ballinacarrigy, Moyvore, Ballymore, Moate and the surrounding areas may experience some disruption to their supply tonight Tuesday, 21 October from 8pm to Wednesday, October 22 at 4am. 

The outage is necessary to facilitate essential water main repair works which will reduce leakage and lead to a more resilient, reliable water network.

Uisce Éireann’s Dave Murphy said: “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.

“Following the completion of the works, it can take two to three hours for normal water supply to return to customers as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on higher ground or at the end of the network.”
