Critical water upgrade works progressing in the Athlone area
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is making steady progress on the Athlone Water Network Upgrade project which will facilitate future development in the town, support social and economic growth, and improve the capacity and performance of Athlone’s water network.
To facilitate the connection of newly installed water mains, there will be a planned outage next Monday night. Customers in Montree, Athlone Town, Cornamagh, Ballymahon Road and the surrounding areas may experience some disruption to their supply on Monday, 26 January from 7pm to Tuesday, 27 January at 7am.
Uisce Éireann’s Padraig Hanly said: “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply overnight. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.”
As the water supply returns, there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term. For helpful tips on what to do following an outage, visit our Issues during or after an outage page.
