Essential overnight restriction for Ashbourne and Ratoath to maintain daytime supply
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is advising customers in Ashbourne, Ratoath and surrounding areas that an essential overnight restriction is being introduced to allow reservoir levels to recover following an electrical fault at Primatestown Booster Pumping Station.
The restriction is being put in place tonight from 11pm until 7am tomorrow morning to ensure a continuous daytime supply of water is available for homes and businesses in Ashbourne, Ratoath, Kilbride, Fairyhouse road, Curraha road, Kilbrew, Balabin road, and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann’s, Michael Cunniffe said the restrictions will be timed to ensure minimal disruption to customers.
“We are mindful of the impact that a nighttime restriction can have, but it is essential to safeguard continuous daytime supply,” said Michael.
“We are asking customers to be mindful of how they use water. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to six litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use,” Michael added.
For more simple ways to conserve water, check out the Uisce Éireann conservation calculator (www.water.ie/calculator) which can help people work out how much water they are currently using and how they can conserve even more.
