Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is advising motorists that the emergency road closure at Ferndale Road in Shankill is being extended to facilitate ongoing repairs to a burst water main.
An emergency road closure was granted by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and repairs to the burst main began this morning at 9.30am. Due to the complex nature of the repairs required, the road will remain closed until 6pm tomorrow evening, Thursday 23 October.
Uisce Éireann’s Water Operations Manager, Daniel Kennedy said: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as safely as possible but are complex due to the location of the burst. We would like to thank all road users for their continued patience and cooperation while we carry out these essential repair works.”
The road closure remains in place at Ferndale Road for a 500m section between John Scottus secondary school and Old Connaught House. Diversion routes are clearly signposted, with local and emergency access maintained.
Uisce Éireann do not anticipate any interruptions to water supply as a result of the water main burst or repair works as crews are maintaining supply for customers through manual network adjustments.
