Growth and Development Programme to set sail for Skerries with water and wastewater upgrades on the horizon

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is commencing a project to upgrade the water and wastewater network in Skerries to support the future growth and development of the area.

Set to begin next week, the project is being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme and involves the upgrade of approximately 540 metres of water mains and more than 200 metres of gravity sewer at Shenick Road. These essential works will provide the required capacity to support new housing development in Skerries, while also strengthening the resilience of the networks for existing homes and businesses.

Uisce Éireann’s Donal O’Connor, highlighted the importance of the project:
“This project is part of Uisce Éireann’s commitment to delivering the water services necessary to support sustainable housing and economic development in communities across Ireland. By investing in the water and wastewater infrastructure in Skerries, we are enabling future growth while safeguarding essential services for current and future generations.”

To safely deliver the project, a Stop/Go traffic management plan will be in place on Shenick Road.

The works may involve some short-term water interruptions, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group and are expected to be completed by early 2026.
