Investment lowers Letterkenny's Leakage

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann customers in The Grange, Letterkenny are now enjoying a more secure and reliable water supply after the completion of essential leakage reduction works in the area.

The works, which were carried out under Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme, involved the replacement of almost 400m of aging water mains with new, modern pipes. The project included works from L-1174, The Grange, Letterkenny from the Glencar Road junction to the Fernhill Upper junction.

These leakage reduction works began in early summer and were completed last month. The works were carried out by Farrans Construction on Uisce Éireann’s behalf.

Patricia Lowry, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, is pleased to have delivered this important project for the community.  “We are delighted to have completed these works that are now benefitting homes and businesses on the outskirts of Letterkenny. By replacing these old water mains, we will ensure a more sustainable water supply, eliminate existing leaks, and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground protecting our most precious resource. I would like to thank the community for their patience and support while the works were being completed.”

Uisce Éireann continues to deliver a national Leakage Reduction Programme to provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage, improve water quality and create operational efficiencies on the water network. This programme is a strategic and targeted approach to improve the national water network across the country, through a number of leakage reduction work streams prioritising investment where it is needed most.
