Leakage reduction works to futureproof water supply for Lusmagh

Customers in Lusmagh can look forward to a more secure and reliable water supply as Uisce Éireann begins essential upgrade works next week.

As part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, Uisce Éireann has prioritised the replacement of 730 metres of ageing water mains between the crossroads at Caplevane and Lusmagh National School. This investment will not only provide a more secure and reliable water supply in the area but also reduce leakage of treated water into the ground.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager Dave Murphy is looking forward to delivering the project for customers in the local communities. “This essential work is part of an investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across County Offaly, prioritising investment where it is needed most. We would like to thank customers in Lusmagh in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these works.

We understand that this type of work is inconvenient, and our crews are making every effort to minimise disruption to the local community. These works are vital to ensure security of supply now and into the future, with the long-term benefits far outweighing any short-term inconvenience.”

To deliver the works safely and efficiently, traffic management in the form of a stop-go system will be in place along the L3012, from the crossroads at Caplevane to Lusmagh National School.

Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact to the local community, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned interruptions.

Shareridge are carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann and are expected to be completed later this month.
