Major upgrade completed securing Dunlavin’s water supply for generations

Dunlavin's water supply is now more secure and resilient following the completion of a major Uisce Éireann upgrade.

The Dunlavin Water Supply Rationalisation Project represents a €9 million investment that, now complete, will significantly enhance the quality, reliability, and long-term capacity of the local water supply. The project connects Dunlavin to the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) water supply zone, providing a more secure and resilient service for approximately 1,000 residents and businesses.

Speaking about the completion of the project, Uisce Éireann’s Paul McLoughlin said:

“We are delighted to bring this essential upgrade in Dunlavin to completion. This project is all about supporting the community and giving families, schools, clubs and businesses a stronger and more reliable water service. We sincerely thank the people of Dunlavin and Brannockstown for their patience and cooperation throughout the works.”

The upgrade involved the construction of more than 7km of new water mains between Brannockstown and Dunlavin, the installation of new pipelines within the village, and the delivery of a modern booster pumping station in Brannockstown. David Walsh Civil Engineering carried out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

This investment brings meaningful, long-term benefits to the community. The upgrade significantly strengthens the security and resilience of the local drinking water supply, reduces the risk of restrictions or interruptions, and ensures the network can accommodate future growth, including new homes and community facilities.

Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland. We are committed to enabling communities to thrive by continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development, providing safe drinking water, and enhancing the environment.
