Major watermains upgrade completed in Castleisland, Co. Kerry

Uisce Éireann has delivered a major boost to Castleisland’s water supply with the replacement of 3.3 kilometres of aged watermains. Often described as the gateway to Kerry, Castleisland is a town with a strong community spirit and a proud history, and this vital upgrade will ensure a more reliable water supply for homes, businesses and future generations to come.

The works, which were carried out as part Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme are critical in conserving precious water resources and providing a more secure water supply for the community.

Jack Cronin, Programme Manager, Uisce Éireann said: “We are delighted to have completed this project for the community in Castleisland. These essential mains upgrades will reduce leakage, eliminate the challenges associated with old watermains and improve the resilience of the network resulting in a positive impact on leakage and the daily lives of the residents of Castleisland.”

He thanked all stakeholders including residents, business owners, elected representatives, and the media for their support during the five-month project.

The works were carried out by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
