Motorists are advised of planned road closure to facilitate works on the Maynooth Transfer Pipeline

Uisce Éireann is advising road users of an upcoming road closure on the L1014 as part of essential works for the Maynooth Transfer Pipeline Project.

To facilitate the safe delivery of pipelaying works, the L1014 will be closed from its junction with the R157 to the L5050 junction at Catherinstown from Monday, 15 September to Sunday, 16 November 2025. Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted with emergency and local access maintained throughout the closure period.

Commenting on the works, Uisce Éireann’s Ciaran Ryan said: “We understand that road closures can be disruptive, and we thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation while we deliver these essential works. This project will bring long-term benefits for the community, supporting housing delivery and economic growth.”

Delivered under Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme, the Maynooth Transfer Pipeline represents a €24 million investment to deliver a new wastewater pipeline between Maynooth Wastewater Pump Station and Leixlip Wastewater Treatment Plant, along with upgrades to the existing Maynooth Wastewater Pump Station. The works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey Construction.
Once complete, the project will create capacity for an additional 11,500 housing units in Maynooth and Kilcock and improve the performance of the existing wastewater network, ensuring reliable and sustainable wastewater services for the community.
