Network upgrade secures stronger supply for Sligo

Uisce Éireann has delivered an important upgrade to Sligo’s water network with the installation of 2.2 km of new water mains, helping to reduce outages and improve reliability for communities in Carrowmore and Grange East. This investment strengthens the security of supply for homes and businesses on the outskirts of Sligo town.

The recently completed water mains replacement works in Carrowmore and Grange East, Knocknarea, have enhanced the local network by reducing leakage and significantly lowering the risk of bursts and outages for residents and businesses.

Delivered along the L3507 at Grange East, the project forms part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme and represents another key step in improving water infrastructure across the county.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, welcomed the completion of the works. “We are committed to delivering a safe and secure water supply for communities across Sligo. The completion of these works in Carrowmore and Grange East will help to reduce leakage and improve the resilience of the network, ensuring a more reliable water supply now and into the future. We would like to sincerely thank the local community for their support and patience while these essential works were underway.”

The project was carried out by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann and forms part of ongoing national efforts to reduce leakage, improve water quality and deliver a more dependable water supply for communities across Ireland.
