Nighttime restrictions remain in effect in Cavan Town
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Overnight water restrictions remain in effect in Cavan Town tonight (Wednesday) as Uisce Éireann continues to appeal to customers to conserve water.
Water restrictions were introduced on the Cavan Public Water Supply on Monday night (22 September) after a mechanical issue at the town’s water treatment plant. The restrictions are in place from 10.30pm each night until 7am the following morning.
The restrictions have been put in effect in order to maintain a full daytime supply for Cavan Town and the surrounding areas. A full supply has been maintained for Cavan General Hospital.
Uisce Éireann’s Peter Gallagher thanked affected customer for their understanding while these restrictions are in effect and again appealed to customers to reduce their water usage where possible. “I am again appealing to all our customers in Cavan Town and surrounding areas to make a special effort to conserve water,” said Peter.
“We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover,” added Peter.
Simple actions, such as taking a shorter shower, placing a basin in the sink and fixing leaking taps can all make a significant impact. Uisce Éireann has developed an easy-to-use conservation calculator to help people find out how much water they are saving and what they can do to save even more.
