Planned outage on Thursday night to facilitate essential mains repairs
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann wishes to notify customers in Galway City of a planned outage which is scheduled to take place from 9pm on the night of Thursday, 2 October until 1am on the morning of Friday, 3 October.
The four-hour planned outage is to facilitate essential leak repairs on a water main at the Corrib Shopping Centre in Galway City Centre.
The outage will impact supply to homes and businesses in the following areas of the city centre:
- Eyre Street (as far as McSwiggan’s Bar)
- St Brendan’s Avenue
- Bóthar Irwin
- Bóthar na mBan
- Rosemary Avenue
Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann said these works are necessary to repair a section of water main which is at risk of bursting.
“These are pre-emptive works required to safeguard supply for this area of the city centre,” said Leo. “We acknowledge the impact that a planned outage has on our customers, and we assure affected customers that our crews will work as quickly as possible to complete the repairs and restore normal supply.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, and through our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
