Preparing for Orange Warnings and Flood Risk across Ireland
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
With Met Éireann issuing an orange rain warning for parts of Ireland and a significant risk of flooding in saturated areas, Uisce Éireann has taken measures to safeguard water and wastewater services nationwide.
Uisce Éireann crews are on standby across the country, ready to respond to any service disruptions caused by heavy rainfall, rising river levels, or storm-related impacts. Treated Water reservoirs have been filled in advance to provide additional resilience for customers in high-risk areas.
Other steps taken include:
- 24/7 Monitoring: Our national operations centre is tracking weather developments and coordinating with Local Authorities and the National Emergency Coordination Group.
- Rapid Response: Specialist crews and contractors are mobilised to restore services quickly in the event of flooding or infrastructure damage.
- Customer Support: We have a free text alert service in place for real-time updates. Customers can register using their Eircode at www.water.ie
Advice for Customers:
- Report Issues Immediately: If you experience flooding from a public watermain or sewer, contact Uisce Éireann’s Customer Care Team on 1800 278 278 (available 24/7).
- Stay Safe: Avoid floodwaters, which may be contaminated. Follow local authority guidance and emergency services advice.
- Conserve Water: In areas where supply may be disrupted, use water sparingly to protect storage levels.
Margaret Attridge, Head of Water Operations at Uisce Éireann said, “Our teams are fully prepared to respond to any impacts from the forecast weather warnings. Protecting public health and maintaining essential water services is our top priority. We ask customers to stay informed, report issues promptly, and follow safety advice during this period.”
