Repairs have been completed to a burst which occurred on a rising main between the New Clifton Hill Reservoir and the Tonabrocky Reservoir to the west of Galway city this morning.

Uisce Éireann crews worked through the day to isolate and repair the burst on the rising main, which impacted supply to a small number of properties in the area. Repairs were completed at approximately 8pm and water supply is now returning to the majority of affected customers.

Some customers in the areas of Loughwell, Pollagh, Drum and Barna North may not have full supply restored until tomorrow morning (Wednesday).

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to some customers as the system recharges.

Tony Kelly of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their understanding while works were underway.
“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience of unplanned outages, and we wish to thank customers for their patience and cooperation while these repair works were carried out,” said Tony.
