Uisce Éireann’s efforts to improve water supply across Sligo are continuing, with works set to get underway on the outskirts of the county town. Water mains replacement works will commence in the coming days in Carrowmore and Grange East, Knocknarea, to reduce leakage, bursts and outages in the area, giving businesses, residents and visitors greater confidence in the security of their water supply.

The works will take place along the L3507 at Grange East as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, is looking forward to getting this important project underway.

Uisce Éireann is working hard to prioritise the delivery of a safe and secure water supply in Sligo. The works in Carrowmore and Grange East will help drive down leakage and reduce the risk of outages from bursts, now and into the future. We are committed to enabling communities across Sligo to thrive by continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development, providing safe drinking water, and enhancing the environment. We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience in advance as we carry out these essential works.”

To safely and efficiently deliver this project, traffic management will be in place in the form of traffic lights. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Farrans Construction is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with the project expected to be complete by Spring 2026.

Uisce Éireann continues to deliver a national Leakage Reduction Programme to provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage, improve water quality and create operational efficiencies on the water network. This programme is a strategic and targeted approach to improve the national water network across the country, through a number of leakage reduction work streams prioritising investment where it is needed most.
