Uisce Éireann advises of supply disruption in Blacklion and surrounding areas
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
A significant burst on a water main in Blacklion is affecting supply to a number of properties in the area. Uisce Éireann crews have completed initial investigations, and it involves a complex repair to a large water main. Updates on repair times will be available on water.ie as work is progressed.
An alternative water supply is in place adjacent to Lough McNean playground on the N16 Sligo Road tonight (05 October). Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.
Uisce Éireann’s Peter Gallagher has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while we work to return water supply,” said Peter.
Following repair works, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit our Vulnerable Customers page.
