Supply levels returning to normal in North Kildare after overnight dirsuptionsue to low reservoir levels

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Supply levels are returning to normal in North Kildare this morning after overnight disruptions caused by critically low water levels at the Allenwood Reservoir.

Low water levels coupled with high demand on the network necessitated the shutting down of the reservoir on Saturday evening, in order to allow levels to replenish.

The reservoir recharged successfully overnight and is now returning to normal operations.

Customers in Coill Dubh, Prosperous, Derrinturn, Kilmeage, Robertstown, Allenwood and surrounding areas who were impacted should have their normal supplies restored this morning.

Some customers may experience instances of low pressure while the network recharges but all supplies should be restored to normal levels by lunchtime today (Sunday).

Uisce Éireann’s Eoghan Forristal thanked customers for their understanding while the reservoir was allowed to recharge.

We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support,” said Eoghan.

Typically, it takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Previous Updates

Areas impacted will include Coill Dubh, Prosperous, Derrinturn, Kilmeage, Robertstown, Allenwood and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann is advising customers supplied by the Allenwood Reservoir in Kildare that low levels at the reservoir will impact water supplies to local customers from this evening.

Extremely high demand on the network has led to water levels in the Allenwood Reservoir falling to critically low levels over the last 24 hours. As a result, operations at the plant were halted at approximately 4.45pm this evening to allow for levels to replenish.

Normal supply is expected to resume from approximately 9am tomorrow morning (Sunday). It may take up to 24 hours for normal supply to return to all areas.

Areas impacted will include Coill Dubh, Prosperous, Derrinturn, Kilmeage, Robertstown, Allenwood and surrounding areas. Bottled water is being made available for vulnerable customers.

Uisce Éireann’s Eoghan Forristal has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while we allow reservoir levels to replenish. We expect that normal supply will be returning to all customers from approximately 9am on Sunday,” said Eoghan.
