Uisce Éireann appeals to the public in Mallow to reduce water use following period of high demand

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Mallow and surrounding areas that overnight supply restrictions are required to conserve water and maintain a daytime supply. Starting tonight, Friday 11 July, overnight restrictions will be in place over the course of this weekend from 10pm until 7am each night. 

During these times, customers in the following areas may experience interruptions to supply, or reduced water pressure: Mallow South including Bearforest, Ballyellis, Ballydaheen, Gouldshill, Carhookeal, Quartertown and surrounding areas. 

Customers should allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time for supply to fully return. There may be some short-term discolouration as water returns to the network following overnight restrictions.  

Uisce Éireann’s Water Operations Manager, Niall O’Riordan says: “We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause to  the community; however, given the increased demand they are essential to maintain a daytime water supply. We are asking people to support us and takes a few simple steps to reduce their water use in their homes, businesses, and gardens, such as taking a shorter shower, placing a basin in the sink and fixing leaking taps.”

This website also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator to calculate how much water customers are currently saving and how to conserve even more.
