Supply returning to normal levels in Galway City after successful repairs

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to normal levels in the Terryland and Woodquay areas of Galway City this evening after the successful repair of a water main which burst this afternoon.

Uisce Éireann operational crews were able to find and repair the burst on the main, which had caused intermittent outages and supply disruptions to homes and businesses in the vicinity of Woodquay, Terryland, the Headford Road and Bothar an Choiste and parts of Quay Street and Abbeygate Street and surrounding areas.

The repairs were completed at approximately 7pm and supply levels in the area are currently returning to normal.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to some customers as the system recharges.

Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while repairs were underway.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out,” Leo said.
