Crews are repairing burst water main at Eyre Street

Uisce Éireann crews are currently repairing a burst on a water main at Eyre Street in Galway City Centre which may be affecting supply to homes and businesses in the area.

Customers in Eyre Street, St Brendan’s Avenue, the Corrib Shopping Centre and Woodquay may be experiencing supply disruptions this morning as a result of this unplanned burst.

Crews are on site working to repair the burst. Repairs are expected to be complete within the hour.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” said Leo.
