Water supply returning to customers in Ardee

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to customers in Ardee following repairs to a significant water main burst.

Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan thanked affected customers for their cooperation: “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned outage and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience as the network continues to replenish.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries.  For updates please see the water supply and services section of our website.

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major burst in Ardee and restore water to customers affected.

Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”

Repairs are expected to be completed by 6pm this evening. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management is in place on the N2.

This aging water main supplying Ardee has been prioritised for replacement through Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme. Site investigation works have been completed at John Street and the N2, and design of the project is continuing. Works are planned to commence before the end of the year.
