Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Repairs to a burst water main in the Avenue Road area of Dundalk have been completed this afternoon and supply is returning to affected customers.

The burst water main resulted in outages in Avenue Road, Dunmore Estate and surrounding areas.

Repairs were completed at approximately 4pm and supply levels in the area are currently returning to normal, however it may take longer for those on higher ground or at the end of the network to have a full supply restored.

James O’Hagan of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while repairs were underway.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out. The repairs required were complex in nature and we regret any inconvenience caused.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major burst in the Avenue Road area of Dundalk and restore water to customers affected.

The burst water main will result in outages for customers in Avenue Road, Dunmore Estate and surrounding areas.

Alternative water supplies are available at the following locations:
•    Avenue Shopping Centre car park
•    Dunmore Estate

Customers are advised to bring their own containers and to boil the water before use as a precaution.

Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”

Repairs are expected to be completed by 8pm tomorrow, Wednesday, 08 October.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
