Water supply returning to most areas around Tralee and Castleisland following burst water main

Supplies are returning to most parts of the Tralee-Castleisland area following the completion of repairs to a burst main yesterday.
However it will take longer for normal supplies to return to some areas, including Fenit, Churchill, Spa including the Ballygarron area, and elevated areas on all schemes.
Alternative water supplies remain in place in a number of locations around the county to support customers while normal supply is returning. These include tankers at the following locations:
• Opposite RSA Office, Spa Road, Tralee – will remain on site until this evening.
• Fenit Samphires FC – will remain on site.
• Adjacent to the primary school, Station Road – will remain on site until this evening.
• Adjacent to Desmonds GAA Club, Castleisland – will remain on site until this evening.
• Firies Church Yard – will remain on site until this evening.
• Caherslee Mart Yard – will remain on site until this evening.
• Churchill New GAA Ground – currently on site.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Bottled Water will be available at the following locations:
• Tonavane Pump House
• Adjacent to The Oyster Tavern
• Adjacent to Clogher's Graveyard, Ballymacelligott
• Curraheen Church
• Fenit Lighthouse
• Churchill Church
Eoin O’Connell, Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann, said:
"Restoration works are continuing across all schemes and supply has been restored to most areas. There remain a number of areas where it will take longer for normal supply to return and alternative water supplies are in place in these locations to support customers.
“We would like to thank our customers for their patience as we work to restore full supply to all impacted areas."

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore supply to customers in the Tralee-Castleisland area following the completion of repairs to a burst main on the N22 Farranfore to Killarney Road early this morning.
Following this repair and increased demand due to the warm weather conditions, reservoir levels have depleted across the supply. As a result customers in the greater Tralee area, Fenit, Abbeydorney, Kilflynn, Ardfert, Farranfore and Castleisland may experience low pressure, no water or water restrictions over the next 24 hours. Eoin O’Connell, Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann, said:
"We would like to apologies to our customers for the loss of supply due to this substantial burst and high demand and would like to thank them for their continued support with regards to the water conservations measures.
“Operational reviews will be carried out daily, but it is expected that nighttime restrictions will continue into next week on a number of supplies to allow reservoir levels to recover following this substantial burst.”
