Works commences in Ennis to reduce leakage
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is set to begin works in Ennis next week to drive down leakage and improve supply to the local community.
These works will take place along the R458, Gort Road, Co Clare and involve the replacement of over 300m of aged water mains, prone to bursts as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
Jack Cronin, Uisce Éireann Programme Manager, welcomes this news, saying,
“As we commence this project in the banner county, this is a fitting opportunity to highlight the benefits of these continued works which will help put a stop to bursts, outages and leakage in the area and give locals and visitors alike an improved confidence in the security of their water supply. Uisce Éireann continues to work tirelessly to eliminate existing leaks. Fewer bursts and less leakage will ensure a more secure and reliable supply and enable communities like Ennis to thrive. I would like to thank the community for their support and patience while works are ongoing.”
To minimise disruption to the community, a section of these works along the R458 will be carried out at night-time, during off-peak hours. To safely and efficiently deliver the project, traffic management will be in place in the form of a stop and go traffic system. The remaining pipelaying works along the R458 will be carried out during normal working hours.
Ward and Burke Construction Ltd is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with the project expected to be complete by the end of September 2025.
