Works commencing at Vartry Lower Reservoir Walking Trails

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Following the impact of weather events in the last year, Uisce Éireann is working with Dublin City Council to remove a significant number of fallen trees and clear the walking trail along the Vartry Lower Reservoir.

On Monday 08 December, works will commence works to clear all windblown and uprooted trees, which are impacting the walking trail. These works will take approximately one month to complete.

We are appealing to the public to avoid Vartry Lower Walking Trail, townlands of Knockfadda, Knockatemple, and Knockraheen until works are complete to ensure the area is safe.

Temporary signage will be in place during this time to direct the public towards open routes.

Uisce Éireann acknowledge the inconvenience caused by these closures and appreciate the community’s ongoing cooperation as we prioritise public safety and the safety of our contractors. We would like to thank Wicklow County Council and Dublin City Council for their support with the ongoing clean-up efforts at the Vartry Upper and Lower Reservoir.

The works will be carried out by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann and are expected to be completed in January 2026.
