What are the benefits of this project?

These critical upgrades are being delivered through Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme, a national programme of targeted investment to increase the capacity of water and wastewater infrastructure to enable social/economic growth and development, including the delivery of essential housing. The benefits of these water network works include:

  • Improving the water network – This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services.
  • Supporting social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
  • Improving the water infrastructure to facilitate future demand – This project will ensure the required capacity of the water infrastructure to support future development in the area.

What is involved in this project?

The works will involve the upgrading and upsizing of over 2.5km of water mains at Coosan, Cornamagh Road and Brawny Road.

What is happening next?

The project will be carried out by Coffey Construction on Uisce Éireann’s behalf. Site investigation works have commenced with the main construction works currently planned to commence over the Summer. The project will take approximately six months to complete and will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption to the local community.

To deliver the works safely and efficiently, traffic management will likely be required. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained. Impacted stakeholders will be notified directly and we endeavour to keep the local community updated as this project progresses.

The works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions. We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
