Growth and Development Programme - Shenick Road Water and Wastewater Network Upgrade
Uisce Éireann is upgrading the water and wastewater infrastructure at Shenick Road to support future growth and development in Skerries.
The works involve the upgrade of 540 metres of water mains and over 200 metres of gravity sewer to support future and existing developments in the Skerries area. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme and are expected to commence in Summer 2025.
The section of works will take place along Shenick Road.
This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the supply capacity of the existing water network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.
The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group Ltd. and are expected to be completed by early 2026.
What are the benefits of the works?
The benefits of these water network works include:
- Supporting social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
- Improving the wastewater network – This project will upgrade the wastewater network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality wastewater services for the community.
- Providing a more resilient water supply – This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.
Will customers be affected by the works?
To safely and efficiently deliver these works, traffic management in the form of a Stop / Go system will be in place on Shenick Road. Traffic marshals will be in place during working hours, and temporary traffic lights will be in place outside working hours.
Standard working hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
Bus stop no. 3793 on R128 Holmpatrick near the junction with Skerries Road, serviced by Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland, will be relocated to facilitate works, with signage in place to direct commuters to the new temporary stop.
We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
