Staleen to Duleek Business Park Water Mains Replacement
Uisce Éireann National Leakage Reduction Programme
Uisce Éireann is carrying out leakage reduction works in Duleek, Co Meath to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.
The works involve the replacement of over 2,900 metres of old and damaged water mains with new modern pipes. The programme to replace the water mains in Staleen Reservoir to Duleek commenced in the Summer and work is being delivered in phases. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The section of works will take place between Staleen Reservoir and Duleek Business Park.
The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd. and are expected to be completed in Q1 2027.
Programme of Works
Phase 1: We have already completed pressure management works on the existing trunkmain in the Summer 2026.
Phase 2: Works commenced in August on this priority section on private property North of Duleek Business Park and are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Phase 3: This next phase of works involves a temporary road closure on the L-1609-9 Cannanstown, Station Road, Duleek from its junction with L-5612-10 Cruicerath to its junction with R-150 Station Road, Duleek will be in place from 8am on Monday, 14 September 2026 to 8pm on Friday, 23 October 2026 for 24 hrs per day. Clearly signposted diversion routes and information signage will be in place throughout the closure period, and local and emergency access will be maintained at all times. Completion of phase 2&3 will allow the commissioning of the priority section of the new watermain in Quarter 1 2027.
Phase 4: The final phase of the project is in design phase and will be delivered in 2027.

The benefits of the leakage reduction works include:
- A Reliable Water Supply – Replacement of water mains and service connections will reduce the instances of bursts and water outages and will ensure a reliable supply of water to customers and local businesses in the area.
- Reduced Leaks – Replacement of water mains and service connections will eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
- Improved Operation and Maintenance – These works will deliver cost savings by providing improved water network operation that will require less maintenance in the future.
Will customers be affected by the works?
The next phase of works involves a temporary road closure on the L-1609-9 Cannanstown, Station Road, Duleek from its junction with L-5612-10 Cruicerath to its junction with R-150 Station Road, Duleek. The road closure will be in place from 8am on Monday, 14 September 2026 to 8pm on Friday, 23 October 2026 for 24 hrs per day.
We have measures in place to keep disruption to an absolute minimum but to protect the public and our crews, a traffic management system will be in place during the works. Local and emergency services access will be maintained at all times.
The works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.
We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
