Planned outage for customers in Cork City

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

 Uisce Éireann wishes to advise of a planned water outage which may impact customers parts of Cork City. The outage is necessary to facilitate essential repair works to the water network on Wellington Road. The works will take place from 8.00am to 4pm on Saturday, 06 December and may result in supply disruptions for customers in the following areas; 

•    Wellington Road From Military Hill to St Lukes 
•    St Lukes Cross Area
•    Ballyhooley New Road as far as Dillions Cross
•    Middle Glanmire Road 
•    Lovers Walk
•    Trafalgar Hill

A road closure will be in place on Wellington Road during this time. Local and emergency access will always be maintained. Traffic flows will be  
diverted during the duration of the closure. 

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Manager, James Goulding has said, “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply, particularly on a weekend. Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.”  

Following any significant activity on the water network, we usually see increased instances of sediment becoming dislodged from the old cast iron pipes, resulting in increased reports of discoloured water at customers taps. 

As water returns, customers may experience some short-term discolouration. In the event of discolouration, running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes will usually restore the water to a clear colour. For more information visit this page.
